My Experience with using Samsung Pay- Highly Recommended

I recently started using Samsung Pay and wanted to capture my experiences with it.

Have you tried it? Its worth it.

This all started from when I noticed someone pay with their phone in an apple store for buying another apple phone.

Ironical! Silence...

I was picking up an apple watch 3 for my wife as a Christmas gift. Yess! I was more excited.

A guy next to me was browsing on his phone, and when it came to payment, he just used his phone to complete the process and walked away.

However I must confess, it was like two zombies interacting.

Dont you know what i mean?

The human interaction, the "thank you", the "bye byes" etc are fading away.

So, much so that it feels plasticky especially at stores as if the sales reps are pushed to say those words.

Sorry, I digress:

The coolest part of that was not the need to pull out the wallet, swipe or insert the card and everything around it.

We always have our phone in the hand, and its so much more convenient.

Since then, I came back and started researching on the best approach. being a Samsung Note 8 user, I compared Android Pay and Samsung Pay.

Samsung Pay has advertised much apparently, and there was an app sitting on my phone already.

So how has been my experience:

Read on.

My experience so far:
I started by setting up one card in my Samsung Pay account and tested it first at the gas station at Costco.
Since then, there has been no looking back.

I have added multiple cards, and have been using at every place I would typically swipe my card before.

So, Since then it has worked for me everywhere- Walmart, Target, Costco, Costco gas terminals, Chukey cheese and few more stores and hasn't failed me yet.

  1. The major benefit of using Samsung Pay, which I have realized over last 2 weeks is that Samsung Pay works at all the new payment terminals[support NFC technology] and all the old POS terminal[based on MST technology] with swipe options. This is the single biggest reason, Samsung Pay outranks apple pay or event google pay.
  2. Super convenient:
    1. Samsung Pay's placement on Note 8 device is absolutely brilliant. I don't need to unlock my phone to use it every time.
    2. The hassle of carrying different cards is getting reduced. You can store multiple cards and scroll through pretty simply.
    3. Its one stop shop for storing your membership cards. I have started with entering 'My Panera Card' for Panera bread, and 'Costco membership card'. I will further add to those experiences as I continue using Samsung pay further.
  3. Its pretty secure. For every transaction, I would need to authenticate by entering my PIN or IRIS or fingerprint scanner.
  4. Finally, Samsung also rewards you for using Samsung Pay. For few transactions, it may not be a big deal, but once you start using this mainstream, Samsung pay rewards can add up significantly. And not to forget, you are stilling accruing benefits from your cards (cashback/points/etc) in the meanwhile. Its a double dip for the consumer.

So this is my initial review of using Samsung Pay for past 2 weeks. Have you tried it? if not, I encourage you to go ahead and try it out.
